Welcome to The Celiac Space Blog - Erin’s Story & What’s Coming

By Erin Kenny, RD

I Never Planned to Start a Blog

Honestly? When I was diagnosed with celiac disease, the last thing I imagined was one day building a whole community around it. I was overwhelmed, frustrated, and felt completely alone. I was a Registered Dietitian, I was supposed to understand this stuff, and I still didn’t know where to start.

Sound familiar?

That’s exactly why The Celiac Space exists. And it’s exactly why this blog is launching today.

A Little About Me: The RD Who Gets It

I’m Erin Kenny, RD. I work as a Registered Dietitian, and I live with celiac disease. That combination, the clinical training and the lived experience, shapes everything I do and everything I write.

I know what it’s like to stand in a grocery store aisle reading labels for twenty minutes. I know the exhaustion of explaining your diagnosis to a well-meaning relative who still offers you “just a little bit” of pasta. I know the anxiety of eating at a restaurant and hoping for the best.

I also know that it gets better. That there is a version of this life where you feel healthy, confident, and free, not like you’re managing an illness 24/7. Getting you there is what The Celiac Space is all about.

What This Blog Is For

Here’s what I want you to know first: this blog is not another generic gluten-free recipe site. This is a dietitian-backed resource built specifically for people living with celiac disease and those supporting them.

Every post here will be:

  • Grounded in real science - I’ll always cite credible sources like the NIH, the Celiac Disease Foundation, and peer-reviewed research

  • Written in plain language - no jargon, no talking down, just clear and honest guidance

  • Rooted in real life - because celiac management doesn’t happen in a clinical vacuum, it happens at birthday parties, work lunches, and your own kitchen

  • Always action-oriented - you’ll never leave a post without a clear next step

What’s Coming to the Blog

We’re kicking things off with content I know you need, because these are the questions I hear every single day:

  • What do you actually do after a celiac diagnosis? (Spoiler: there’s more to it than “just go gluten-free.”)

  • What do those “gluten-free” labels really mean, and should you trust them?

  • How do you handle cross-contamination at home without losing your mind?

  • What do you say to the people in your life who just don’t get it?

  • And that’s just the beginning. We’ll dig into meal planning, gut healing, navigating travel, the emotional side of chronic illness, and so much more.

You Don’t Have to Figure This Out Alone

That’s the whole point of this space. Whether you were diagnosed last week or ten years ago, whether you’re a parent managing celiac for your child, or someone who just wants credible gluten-free guidance — you belong here.

As an RD and someone living with celiac myself, I’ve made it my mission to give you the tools, the clarity, and the confidence to live like a healthy person, not someone just managing illness.
